What is this protest all about?
The government wants to expand the use of "Communications Data" in solving and preventing crime. Communications Data concerns who you phone and email and when, and what websites you visit. There is no doubt that such data can prevent and solve crime - our argument is that the data will be available to far too many groups, and with too weak safeguards.

When will the protest take place?
For one day only, on June 15th 2009.
Why aren't you actually emailing Jacqui Smith? I know her email address...
Because this is a political campaign, not a personal one.
What is all the fuss about? I don't have anything to hide! And anyway, the database doesn't store the actual content of the emails...
Roger Heathcote has written a very good article countering these points here. Henry Porter of the Guardian has written a lot of good stuff about the issue too.
